Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 July 2026

Optimised Love ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use optimisedlove.co.uk, how we use it, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

Optimised Love is a trading name of OL Ventures Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 17381659), registered office 36 Dickens Close, Reading RG4 5LZ. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this site.

What we collect

How we use it

Our lawful bases are performance of a contract (fulfilling your order), legal obligation, and our legitimate interests in running the business securely.

Blood testing and your health information

When you order a blood test we collect your name, date of birth, delivery address, email address and mobile number. We need your date of birth because the laboratory is required to label your sample with it — a sample that is not correctly labelled cannot be tested. We need your mobile number to send you the passcode for your results report, which we deliberately send separately from the report itself.

We also receive your blood test results. Under data protection law, test results are data concerning health. This is a special category of personal information that the law protects more strictly than ordinary personal data, and we treat it accordingly.

Our legal basis for using it

We ask for explicit consent rather than relying on a medical-care basis because we are not a healthcare provider and we do not interpret your results. Confirming you are 18 or over is a separate thing and is not consent to process your health data.

Who else is involved

Your sample is analysed by Sussex Pathology Ltd, a CQC-registered and UKAS-accredited laboratory in Crawley, West Sussex, trading as OneDayTests. To arrange your test we share your name, date of birth and contact details with them. They hold the laboratory record of your test and are subject to their own regulatory obligations as an accredited laboratory.

Sussex Pathology will contact you directly by email — to confirm your kit has been dispatched, to send you a link to book a clinic appointment if your test needs one, and to confirm that appointment. Those emails come from them, not from us.

Your sample and your results stay in the UK. We do not transfer your health information outside the UK.

How we send you your results

Your results arrive in a secure portal that only we can access — the laboratory does not send them to you directly. We then send them to you as a password-protected PDF by email, and send the passcode separately by text message, so that neither message alone is enough to open your results.

We will never put the name of your test, any marker, or any result in the subject line or body of an email or text. Orders are handled discreetly: packaging carries no clinical or brand markings, and we do not disclose that you are a customer to anyone.

How long we keep it

We do not keep copies of your results. Once we have sent your report to you, we delete our copy. The laboratory retains the clinical record of your test in line with its own obligations, and you can request a copy from us at any time while they hold it. We keep the record of your order — what you bought and when — for accounting and tax purposes; that record does not contain your results.

What this service is not

This is important, so we say it plainly. This service gives you access to your own laboratory data. It is not a diagnosis, not a medical opinion, and not a substitute for seeing a doctor.

Sharing your data

We share the minimum necessary data with: our fulfilment/dropship supplier (to ship your order), our payment provider (to take payment), and IT/email providers that host the site and send transactional email. We never sell your data. We do not send marketing email unless you have separately opted in.

Retention

We keep order records for as long as required for accounting and legal purposes (typically 6 years), then delete or anonymise them.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, to object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any right, email info@optimisedlove.co.uk. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Security

Your data is held on secure, access-controlled infrastructure. Payment is taken directly by our bank-to-bank provider, so we never handle your card or bank details.
